Mabel Normand was a writer and director in the early days of Hollywood, as well as a pioneer in American comedy and film. She worked for Keystone Studios from 1912 to 1915, then went on to work on independent films shortly thereafter. She worked with both comedians Roscoe Arbuckle and Charlie Chaplin early in their careers.
